Berlin, January 14, 2014 – Möller Ventures GmbH invests a six-digit amount in JimFish and becomes the largest investor in the online fishing store. In addition to the financial contribution, the Möller Ventures team will also support JimFish in the area of online marketing and strategic planning.

With this investment, Möller Ventures is opening up a new business: the Berlin-based company is investing in an e-commerce company for the first time. Until now, the focus was mainly on self-developed web-based business models and marketplaces. With this investment, Möller Ventures is now expanding its portfolio to further develop its presence in niche markets.

The fishing market is currently undergoing a change: While around 3,000 of the 5,000 stationary fishing shops in Germany have given up their business in recent years, the number of fishing hobbyists has grown steadily. The declining number of suppliers is therefore facing a growing demand. Customers are looking for alternatives online. “Equipment is increasingly being purchased on the Internet,” Chris Möller says, founder and managing director of Möller Ventures. “Many fishers know exactly what they need – and order it comfortably from home.”

About JimFish
Since 2012 the online shop JimFish has been selling fishing equipment as well as accessories for hobbyists and professionals. At the beginning of this week, the portal launched a new shop system and, in addition to improved user-friendliness, now offers an expanded product portfolio with over 6,000 items from the fishing sport sector. JimFish is the only German online retailer to present the innovative series of high-quality favorite fishing rods. The cooperation with Möller Ventures brings together Managing Director Philipp Noack with an ambitious goal: “With Möller Ventures, we have found an experienced investor who shares our vision in the niche market. The goal is to expand together with Chris Möller and his team Jim Fish to the # 1 platform for anglers in Germany. “
